Oily and breaking out, dull and tired, or patchy with dark spots? Find the face wash that matches what your skin is doing, and learn how to use it right.
Choose your face wash by what your skin actually does, not by what's trending:
Oily skin, pimples, blackheads or clogged pores? Go for a salicylic acid face wash. It cleans inside the pores, where breakouts start.
Dull, tired or sun-tanned skin? A vitamin C face wash with gentle scrub beads freshens up the surface.
Dark spots, old marks or patchy tone? An L-Glutathione face wash is made for evening out tone, in a soft foam that suits drier skin too.
Not sure which of these sounds like you? Take the 60-second quiz below. And if two of them fit, you don't have to choose: you can use one in the morning and one at night (more on that further down).
Wash your face with a mild cleanser, pat it dry and leave it bare for an hour. Then press a clean tissue on your forehead, nose and cheeks.
Oily: the tissue picks up oil from everywhere, and your face looks shiny.
Combination: oil on the forehead, nose and chin (the T-zone) but not on the cheeks. Very common in Indian weather.
Dry: no oil at all, and your skin feels tight or looks flaky.
Normal: a little oil on the T-zone, cheeks comfortable.
Answer three quick questions about how your skin feels and behaves. We'll match you with the face wash built for it.
Question 1 of 3
A quick guide, not a diagnosis. For painful, deep or long-lasting acne, please see a dermatologist.
All three are gentle, sulphate- and paraben-free foaming cleansers you can use every day. What changes is the job each one is built for.
For oily & acne-prone skin
Salicylic acid dissolves in oil, so it can get inside a pore and loosen the mix of oil and dead skin that turns into blackheads and pimples. Jezara's formula pairs 2% salicylic acid with lactic acid for gentle exfoliation, and aloe vera with glycerin so your face doesn't feel stripped afterwards.

For dull, tired or tanned skin
Dullness is mostly a build-up of dead cells plus the daily wear of sun and pollution. This gel combines vitamin C, orange and green tea extracts, which are antioxidants, with fine scrub beads that lift off the dull top layer, so skin looks fresher straight after you wash. Vitamin E and tea tree oil round it off.

For dark spots & uneven tone
Marks from old pimples, sun spots and patchy tone fade slowly, so it helps to use a cleanser that works on them every single day. This foam pairs 10% L-Glutathione with kojic acid, licorice and berry extracts, all used to even out tone, plus mushroom extract and glycerin to keep drier skin soft.

Washing too often. Twice a day is enough. More than that strips your skin, and oily skin often answers by making even more oil. After the gym or a sweaty commute, a rinse with plain water is fine.
Scrubbing hard on active pimples. Pressure and grains irritate inflamed spots. On breakout days, go gentle and let the salicylic acid do the work.
Rinsing in five seconds. Actives need contact time. Count to 60 while you massage.
Skipping moisturiser because your skin is oily. Dehydrated skin can look oilier. A light, oil-free moisturiser keeps it balanced.
Skipping sunscreen. The sun is a major cause of tan and dark spots. Whatever face wash you use, follow it with sunscreen in the daytime, or new spots keep coming.
Yes, and for many people it works better than one. Use them at different times of day, not one after the other:
Oily skin that also looks dull or tanned: Vitamin C in the morning, Salicylic Acid at night.
Breakouts that leave dark marks: Salicylic Acid in the morning, L-Glutathione at night.
Dry skin that looks dull: L-Glutathione twice a day, with Vitamin C on two or three mornings a week.
Want a ready-made routine for breakouts? The Salicylic Acid Face Wash + Skin Brightening Cream Duo pairs the face wash with a cream for the marks breakouts leave behind.
A face wash helps with everyday oil, dullness and mild breakouts. If you have painful, deep or cystic acne, acne that leaves scars, or a sudden change in your skin, please see a dermatologist. Patch test any new product on your jawline for a day first, especially if your skin is sensitive.
